Day two of our road trip had us headed for Flagstaff, AZ. We started in the morning, excited to explore another part of Arizona. We had a great time even though it poured and I mean poured! The thunder and lighting was simultaneous and right overhead during lunch. Flagstaff, Az. is an eclectic college town with so many interesting shops and people. I even found a great kitchen shop with the kitchen of my dreams. They had great gadgets too. We stopped for lunch in an old hotel and quite literally had the heavens open up for about 30 minutes. Luckily the rain subsided long enough for us to explore downtown Flagstaff, Az.
On our way to Flagstaff, we wandered into a neat community in Prescott. They called it a community and if reminded me of a commune type life but each person had their own home. The homes were average size and they also had one large house that they called a club house. They all owned a share in it and family could stay there or they could use it for parties. They had no homeowners and they all got outside on Saturday to garden and take care of communal areas. They watch out for each other and chip in if someone is ill. It is a commune of the future. It was pretty cool.
Here is their communal garden. It was awesome and everyone could go in and harvest what they wanted.
Another view of the garden.
This photo was snapped from the car on the way to Flagstaff, before the rain started.
Then it started to rain. And rain. And rain.
Then we arrived in Flagstaff, AZ.
Flagstaff is located on historic Route 66, which I didn’t now.
As the rain started to come down, we ducked into an old hotel with a bar and restaurant. Here is a photo of the bar. I thought it epitomizes the old west.
We had a great lunch and enjoyed watching the rain.
We had a great time as it poured outside. The thunder and lightning was incredible!
I had to take a photo of this building landmark, although I am sure they are not my relatives. But it was still cool to see my name on a building.
After we made it back to Prescott, we went to dinner at an incredible Italian Restaurant called Genovese’s. They had great atmosphere and great food. The owners are so friendly. If you are ever in Prescott, you must eat here.
This is from the inside of the restaurant. Sorry, no photos of the food. I was so hungry, I forgot!
Here we are outside of Genovese’s. A good time was had by all!
